Very different from the last View From a Hotel Window I posted, seeing that one was from Venice, Italy. This one is greener, though. And has a parking lot! Very few of those in Venice, I have to say.
Why am I here? Because of the Big Ohio Book Con, where Tochi Onyebuchi and I are in conversation tomorrow at 12:30, followed by us both signing books. If you are in the vicinity of Medina, OH tomorrow, come down and see us (the book festival is also happening today! Right now! As I write this!). If you’re not in the vicinity of Medina, Ohio today or tomorrow, well, try to have a good time anyway.

I was traveling much of June, and as a result we have an extra-large collection of new books and ARCs to consider here at the end of the month. What in this double stack of reading goodness would you like to take on in this final weekend of the first half of the year? Share in the comments!

New comic!
Today's News:
Today, we kick off serialization of the 2015 one-shot Empowered: Pew Pew Pew!, written and drawn by yours truly.
This cover's line art was done by me, featuring colors by my buddy Ryan Kinnaird; the "PEW PEW PEW!" lettering was provided by another buddy, Tomoko Saito, who lettered various projects such as Dirty Pair, Bubblegum Crisis: Grand Mal, and Gen13 for me back in the day.
As I'll address later, this story's provenance is a tad mysterious to me. Looks like I probably worked on it after my labors on Empowered vol. 9 had wrapped up in 2015, so I was likely looking to get warmed up for future work on vol. 10 while earning a slightly better page-rate; I always earned much more per page on these one-shots than I did when grinding out 200-odd story pages for the full Empowered volumes. (The American-market OGN model is a complete and utter clusterf**k, TBH, which I should probably explain in more detail at some point.)Â
Todayâs Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design departments, or possibly something entirely new, such as updates on fantasy test projects The Last Party and The Chaste and the Chained. Golly!-Adam Warren

Every month at the Dumbing of Age Patreon there’s two new exclusive bonus strips — one that patrons get to vote on, and another that’s my choice! This month, folks tied their votes for ASMA and DOROTHY, and since Dorothy’s hands are
held tied presently, narrative-wise, you get some Asma! Read this bonus strip and hundreds of previous at the Dumbing of Age Patreon!
Also, if you pledge up to $5 or more per month, you can read TOMORROW’s strip RIGHT NOW, every day!
