Yeah, so when I said that there were a couple more that I hadn't posted, and you should be thankful that you hadn't seen them?

So, there were more than a couple.

And for the unlikely newcomer, this is the third in a series of entries (...good grief); the first entry is locked, but then the series continues over here in a now-open entry and hopefully concludes in this one.

Less talk, more porn
Per a suggestion.
(Yes, that's right! I was encouraged! So it's still not all my fault! Ha! HA ha, even!)

Defending american liberty
This one ... honestly, I did this one because it's a startlingly sexy presentation of Uncle Sam, especially for something official. Even in the wartime posters, he might look angry or sad, but he never really looks all that vital, normally. (Sad thing is, the rewrite is kind of true, these days.)

I could not make this one quite work, no matter what I did.

I think it may be in part because the original is simply so appalling that there's no way to rescue it.

This one was pretty much irresistable from the start, though.

This one I think needs something more, but I'm not sure what it is:

On the one hand, I have no excuses for this one.

On the other hand ... je ne regrette rien!

And for the last one, something nice and simple.

EDIT: For argument's sake, let's just say that this was inspired by a discussion that wound up involving A certain Kylie Minogue song.

Yeah, so ... back in that last entry when I said that the terrible horrible inspiration had seized my brain and was making me do posters, and asked for help?

Yeah ...

Well, the good news is that this should be it. The inspiration, she is kaput for now.

The bad news is, there are posters.

The typing one

This is actually the first one I really ran across, and the one that started it all. I mean, seriously, how could I resist? The only text that got replaced was across the bottom, where it originally said "Keep 'em flying, Miss USA!" (I wonder why they put Miss USA in front of the French flag? Couldn't they have spangled something?)

And, of course, I had to do the original poster. Nice and simple.

Credit Lyonnais poster

And, of course, there had to be a French one!
The original was an old WWI Credit Lyonnais poster that's kind of well nigh impenetrable, actually. The original text -- after you realize that the V's are all supposed to be U, a task made no easier by the presence of actual letters V -- is "Sousscrivez au 4e imprunt national." Underwritten by the fourth national loan. This is patriotic and inspirational? (EDIT: I just realized I made a translation mistake. Not "underwritten by" but "Subscribe to". In other words, buy war bonds.)

Careless porno

And then there was this one which ... I don't know, it just had to be, somehow.
Something of a side note: Looking at various poster collections, everything was all rah-rah and inspirational and all ... but the entire Careless Talk serieses were all just appalling! It almost makes you want to go back retroactively and say, "You realize that maybe 95 percent of everyone in the country didn't know anything to tell, right? Perhaps this is just a bit of overkill, maybe?"

There actually are a couple of others. Consider yourself lucky that I haven't inflicted them on you.
After the Cape #1, Girls 23, Spirit 4, Army at Love #1, Sadhu #6. (Yes, I know. This week's comics this week! Don't get used to it.) Containing several very long reviews, so you might want to go, get yourself a cuppa something or other, prepare to settle in for a while.

We're walking, we're walking, keep moving, we're walking, SPOILERS are over ... there! )
